There's no single price: the cost of a laptop screen replacement in Lagos depends mostly on the exact screen your model uses (size, resolution, touch or non-touch, panel type) and whether the panel can be replaced on its own or only as a full lid assembly, as on MacBooks and many touchscreen laptops. Why two "15-inch screens" can cost very different amounts
Laptop screens are not one standard part. Two laptops of the same size can use completely different panels. These are the things that decide the price:
- Size: 11.6", 13.3", 14", 15.6" and 17.3" are the common sizes. Bigger is usually dearer.
- Resolution: an HD (1366×768) panel costs less than a Full HD (1920×1080) one, and 2K/4K panels cost more again.
- Touch or non-touch: on most touchscreen laptops the glass and the display are bonded together, so you replace both.
- Panel type: basic TN panels are cheapest; IPS panels (better colours and viewing angles) cost more; OLED and high-refresh gaming panels cost the most.
- Connector and thickness: 30-pin and 40-pin connectors, slim and standard thickness. The new panel must match exactly or it won't fit or won't show a picture.
- Panel only or full assembly: on many Windows laptops the panel alone can be replaced. On MacBooks, most 2-in-1s and some ultrabooks the screen is sold as a full lid assembly, which costs a lot more.
- Original or compatible part: an original-manufacturer panel and a good compatible panel with the same specification can differ in price. We tell you which one we're quoting.
How to find your exact screen (so the quote is accurate)
- Find the model number on the sticker under the laptop (for example "HP 250 G8" or "Dell Latitude 5420"), or in Windows: press Windows + R, type msinfo32 and read "System Model".
- Check if your screen is touch: does it respond to your finger?
- Note the resolution: Windows Settings → System → Display → Display resolution.
- If the screen still shows something, take a clear photo of the damage. Lines, black patches, a cracked corner and a cracked hinge area mean different things.

Is it the screen, or something else?
Not every bad picture means a new screen. Before you pay for one, rule these out:

If the problem also shows on an external monitor, a new screen won't fix it.
Ways to avoid paying twice
- Insist on the exact part number. A "close enough" panel may fit badly or fail early.
- Ask what's included. Is the price for the panel only, or for the full lid? Is the cable included if it's damaged too?
- Test before you leave. Check every corner for dead pixels, brightness, colours and that the lid opens and closes cleanly.
- Fix the cause. Screens often crack because of a stiff or broken hinge. If the hinge is damaged, replacing only the panel means it may crack again.
How long does it take?
When the panel is in stock, a screen replacement is usually a same-day job. Less common panels (touch, 2K/4K, OLED or some full assemblies) may need to be sourced first, and we tell you the expected time before you commit.
