MacBook problems we see most often

  • "Service Recommended" battery or short battery life. MacBook batteries wear out like any other. We check the cycle count and condition, then replace the battery with the right part for your model.
  • Cracked or faulty display. On most MacBooks the screen is sold as a full lid (display) assembly rather than a separate panel, which affects the cost. Lines, backlight problems ("stage light" effect) and flex-cable faults on some models can sometimes be repaired without a full display.
  • Keyboard problems. Sticky, repeating or dead keys. The "butterfly" keyboards used on many 2016–2019 MacBooks are known for this. Depending on the model, the fix is a key/switch repair or a top-case replacement.
  • Won't charge or won't turn on. We test the charger, cable, USB-C or MagSafe port and the board's charging circuit before recommending anything.
  • Liquid damage. MacBooks are very sensitive to liquid. Switch off immediately and bring it in; see what to do after a spill.
  • Slow or full Mac. Clean-up, storage advice and macOS reinstall. On older Intel MacBooks we tell you honestly whether an upgrade is possible and worthwhile.

Before you bring in your MacBook

  1. Check your warranty. If your Mac is still covered by Apple's warranty or AppleCare, check that first at Apple's coverage page (you'll need the serial number from Apple menu → About This Mac).
  2. Back up with Time Machine or copy important files to an external drive or iCloud, if the Mac still works. On most recent MacBooks the storage is soldered to the board, so backups matter more than ever.
  3. Bring the charger and, if we need to test inside macOS, your login password (or create a temporary user for us).
  4. Don't turn off "Find My" until we ask; for some repairs we'll need it off to test, and we'll tell you when.

FAQ

MacBook repair in Lagos: questions

Do you repair MacBooks in Lagos?

Yes. We repair MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models at our office at 30 Araromi Street, Onike, Yaba: batteries, displays, keyboards, charging problems, liquid damage and slow Macs, with a clear quote before any work.

How much does a MacBook battery replacement cost in Lagos?

It depends on the exact model (the A-number on the bottom case). Send us the model or serial on WhatsApp and we'll confirm the right battery and the price before fitting it.

Can a MacBook screen be repaired instead of replaced?

Cracked glass usually means replacing the display assembly. Some faults, such as backlight or flex-cable problems on certain models, can sometimes be repaired without a full display. We test and explain the options.

Will I lose my data during a MacBook repair?

Most repairs don't touch your data, but always back up first if the Mac works. On most recent MacBooks the storage is soldered to the board, so a backup is your safety net.
